This 1.5-ounce bottle of Olde Virden’s Red Hot Fine Grind is handcrafted in Knoxville, Tennessee. This grind blends five different chilies, all locally farmed in Tennessee, to create a perfect dry rub.
It is the same five chilies as the Red Hot Sprinkle, but the Fine Grind is in powder form to allow for a more consistent flavor and heat distribution when being used in baking and making dry rubs.
You’re always going to want to keep one of these bottles in your pantry. It provides the perfect amount of heat and flavor to anything you can think of. It’s great for rubs for any meat, but you can also use it on eggs, pasta, or mashed potatoes for a little added flavor.
Olde Virden’s was founded by Chris Virden in Knoxville, Tennessee. Chris got the idea as he was eating a slice of pizza miles in the air on the top of Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He realized that every pizza restaurant he had ever been to uses the same boring bottle of red pepper flakes and thought that there had to be a better, tastier option.
After the trip, he came back home in Tennessee and started researching alternatives for red pepper flakes. After trying a variety of peppers and different spices, he finally came up with his top five.
He soon opened a small, family-operated facility in Knoxville where fresh, local chilies are dehydrated, blended, and bottled to be shipped.
